Welcome to the Solaris Express Developer Edition DVD!
Solaris Express Developer Edition is a free, quarterly release of Sun's next generation Solaris Operating System built from the source code repository at OpenSolaris.org. The release includes the latest tools, technologies, and platforms to create applications for the Solaris OS, Java Application Platforms, and Web 2.0.
To quickly determine if your machine is able to run this version of Solaris Express, run the Sun Device Detection Tool. This tool is available in "sddtool" directory on the DVD. Alternately, you can find the most current version of the Sun Device Detection Tool at the following url : http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/hcl/hcts/device_detect.jsp
For Windows systems double-click the jar file to run the program. For more information refer to "SDDTool_ReadMe.txt" in that directory.

The Solaris Express Developer Edition DVD will install its contents onto your system. To accomplish this, you will need to shutdown your system and then boot from the DVD.
